Update: TSU will operate remotely on Wednesday, January 17. All classes will be held remotely. Please sign into Blackboard Ultra to access your classes at the regularly-scheduled times. Essential services will be maintained. All offices will be open and staffed remotely. The university will return to normal operations on Thursday, January 18.
Texas Southern University is closely monitoring the upcoming week's inclement weather forecast in Houston and the surrounding areas, along with any relevant communication from the City of Houston.
In prioritizing the safety of students, faculty, and staff, Interim President Dr. Mary Evans Sias has authorized the administration to execute procedures for the continuity of campus operations that consider the health and safety of our entire campus community and minimize the impact on academic programming. Please monitor your TSU email, official TSU social media channels, and the LiveSafe app for updates.
Housing
The University is sensitive to many of our families' plans to return to campus beginning on January 12 and the days leading up to the first day of classes. We have created a contingency plan for students who were prepared to move in this weekend to proceed as scheduled.

Classes
Classes will commence on Tuesday, January 16, as planned. However, on January 16 and 17, 2024, all instructional activities will take place remotely. During these two days, all classes will convene through Blackboard Ultra. Faculty and students are requested to log into Blackboard via their MyTSU portal at the scheduled course times. Regular on-campus face-to-face courses are anticipated to resume on Thursday, January 18, 2024.
Faculty and Staff
Faculty and staff will operate remotely from January 16-17, 2024. Essential services will continue without interruption. Essential personnel are advised to contact their supervisors for details regarding their work schedules.
Financial Aid
The Financial Aid, Scholarships, Veterans Affairs, and University Call Center offices will work remotely on January 16-17, 2024, via phone, email, and Zoom to assist students and families.

The schedule for the basketball games against Mississippi Valley State University on Monday, January 15, 2024, has been updated. The women's game has been rescheduled for noon, and the men's game is now set for 2 PM.
