TSU Coronavirus FAQs

TSU will provide both in-person and online instruction, including a return to classrooms and labs. TSU will continue to provide online options for students, an important mode of instruction. Social-distancing measures will be in place based on current guidelines from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the Governor’s Office.

Registration for the Fall 2021 semester is still open. Visit MyTSU for complete registration information.

Graduation applications will be accepted from August 30 through September 24, 2021.

Tutoring will be available to all students in the Library Learning Center and Fairchild Building.

Students with a balance of more than $500 will not be able to register. Please check your account balance in your MyTSU portal and contact the Office of Student Accounting if you have any questions.

You can order your books through the TSU Campus Bookstore for in-person pick-up or visit TSUBncollege.com. The campus bookstore, located in the Sterling Student Life Center, is open Monday - Thursday, 10 am to 2 pm.

The GRE requirement for graduate program admission application has not changed. The GRE test is available online.

All members of the TSU family – students, faculty, staff, alumni and visitors – should wear masks in all campus buildings and facilities.

Free masks will be available for TSU Students in the Sterling Student Life Center and in the lobby of all residence halls.

TSU’s custodial staff conduct regular, thorough cleaning throughout the campus, including all frequently touched surfaces in classrooms, offices, restrooms and other high-traffic areas.

If you have symptoms and are not fully vaccinated, call for an appointment at the Student Health Center at (713) 313-7173. Remember to exercise caution and be courteous of fellow Tigers.

Appointments are not required.

Hours of operation: Tuesday – Thursday 8 a.m. – 11:30 p.m.

Results will be available within 24 hours if the test is taken by 11:30 a.m.

Vaccinations
The vaccination clinic will be open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the next two months and is located in the Nabrit Science Building.

Library Learning Center Summer Hours of Operation:

Yes, the Department of Campus Recreation and the Rec Center will be operating under adjusted hours throughout the summer: Monday–Thursday, 8 a.m.– 6 p.m. and closed Friday–Sunday. The Rec Center will resume normal operating hours for Fall 2021 beginning Saturday, August 28, 2021: Monday–Thursday, 7 a.m.–Midnight; Friday, 7 a.m.– 10 p.m.; Saturday, Noon–8 p.m.; Sunday, 3–8 p.m. Mask-wearing will be at the discretion of Rec Center members. Sanitation stations will be set up throughout the facility. The Rec Center will be closed daily from 1:15–2 p.m. for deep cleaning.

Facility and policy adjustments will be enforced until further notice. For safety purposes, the reservation process will continue to track facility usage. Details will be posted on the Rec Center website and social media platforms.

IN-PERSON TOUR GUIDELINES:

• Must be scheduled at www.tsu.edu/tours 
• 3 time slots are available for Individual Tours
• Individual Tours are limited to no more than 2 additional persons.
• 1 time slot available for Group Tours
• Group Tours are limited to no more than 20 persons per group.
• Group Tours must have one chaperone per 10 students.
• Upon arrival, each group will be divided into 2 groups of 10

WALK-IN TOURS:

1. Guests will be permitted to do a self-guided tour.
2. Upon arrival, they will receive a campus map and be directed to their phone for a virtual campus tour and can speak with an Admissions Counselor or Educational Planner.

Admitted students should have received an email acknowledgment from TSU’s Office of Admissions with information on how to set up your university username and password. If you have not received the email, please contact the Information Technology department at itservicecenter@tsu.edu.

An acceptance letter from TSU contains your identification number. If you can’t find the letter, be sure to email admissions@tsu.edu with your first and last name and date of birth to receive follow-up from Admissions staff.

The TSU Career and Professional Development Center is currently open for summer hours from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday until August 6^th, 2021.  We will resume normal standard operating hours on August 9, 2021, which is from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The Thomas F. Freeman Center for Forensic Excellence (Debate Team Office) is now operating Mon-Fri from 10 am-6 pm.

•Face coverings are strongly encouraged but not mandated.

•Shared spaces and other high-touch areas will continue to be cleaned and sanitized daily. Disinfectants and hand sanitizer are provided for use.

•All students are asked to maintain at least 6 feet separation from other individuals during workshop sessions, seminars and individual meetings with coaches.

•All students on the Debate Team will be provided the contact information for the Debate Coach and volunteer assistant coaches.

•The Director will stay in touch with volunteer assistant coaches and will research books, catalogs and periodicals for materials suitable for collegiate competition in the Forensic Arts.

The University Counseling Center (UCC) is providing convenient Telemental Health Services to all students.

Beginning Monday, June 7, 2021, all current employees will be required to return to campus at least two days a week. This is also the beginning of the summer workweek schedule.

Beginning Monday, July 5, 2021, all current employees will be required to return to campus for the entire workweek. This means a 100 percent return to in-person campus operations

Student-workers who are non-work-study should contact their direct supervisors if there is a question if they should report to work on campus. The supervisor would be the person to determine if a remote work location is an option.
