Bacterial Meningitis Requirement

Posted on Sunday, January 10, 2016

All new students, transfer students and any student returning to the university following a break in enrollment of at least one fall or spring semester, who is 21 years old or younger, will be required to have the meningitis vaccination or an approved exemption prior to attending classes

All shot records and exemptions are to be submitted directly to Student Health Services. Documents can be hand delivered to the Student Health Center, faxed to (713) 313-7817, or e-mailed to vaccines@tsu.edu.

Bacterial meningitis is a serious and sometimes fatal disease that causes swelling of the membranes surrounding the brain and the spinal cord. Anyone can catch meningitis, but certain groups are at greater risk of getting and spreading the disease.

Additional information on Bacterial Meningitis and detailed instructions on submitting health records can be found on the Texas Southern University website at www.tsu.edu.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Student Health Services, at (713) 313-7173.
Thank you, in advance, for your cooperation.
