Affiliation agreement signed with Harris County

The Department of Administration of Justice within the Barbara Jordan-Mickey Leland School of Public Affairs at Texas Southern University recently signed an Affiliation Agreement allowing the students within the department to intern with the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences (HCIFS).

Dr. Sharlette Kellum-Gilbert, Department of Administration of Justice associate professor and internship coordinator, followed through with the TSU legal counsel and the legal counsel of the HCIFS to obtain the Affiliation Agreement. Harris County Judge Ed Emmett, Harris County Attorney Vince Ryan, and Executive Director & Chief Medical Examiner,Luis A. Sanchez, M.D. signed the official documents March 8, 2016.

Students in the Department of Administration of Justice will be able to serve in various departments under the direction of the Chief Medical Examiner. Some of the departments include: Crime Laboratory, Forensic Investigations, Victim's Assistance, and Legal Counsel.
