KTSU joins in community voter registration event

KTSU 90.9FM will host an Impact Houston Live voter registration broadcast forum on Saturday, October 8 from 7:00 – 9:00 a.m. to discuss the voting process and the importance of registering to vote. The forum will be moderated by TSU alumna and Houston Independent School District Board of Education Trustee Wanda Adams and TSU School of Public Affairs adjunct professor Kalan Laws.

KTSU is leading a community-wide effort by having a Third Ward registration drive on October 8 from 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Voter registration will be held at TSU, Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church, Fiesta, and other strategic locations.

Community members scheduled to appear on the broadcast will include DeLloyd Parker, Shape Community Center; Minister Robert Muhammad, Nation of Islam; Anthony Collier, TSU's Collegiate 100; Justin Lee, TSU’s SGA President; Pastor D.Z. Coffield, Good Hope Baptist Church; Dr. James Douglas, interim dean of TSU’s Thurgood Marshall School of Law and president of NAACP – Houston chapter; Lauren Harris and Jada Wilson, University of Houston's Collegiate 100 and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority; and Reverend Joshua Mitchell,Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church. Debbie White of Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church coordinated this voter registration event in preparation for the November 2016 election.
