Aviation program certifies its first private pilot

TSU aviation student David Thompson is one step closer to becoming an airline pilot after receiving his Private Pilot Certificate following a practical examination in a Cessna 172 at Ellington Field. Thompson is the first student to become a certified private pilot in TSU’s flight program. Thompson’s examination was administered by TSU flight instructor Captain Roscoe Edwards, who is the first African-American pilot examiner in the South with the Federal Aviation Administration.
