TSU professors contribute to award-winning novel

Angie Brown:  A Jim Crow Romance (Outskirts Press, 2017), won first place in the "African American" category in the 2019 Indie Book Awards, an awards program showcasing works from independent publishers.  Karen Kossie-Chernyshev, Ph.D., professor of History, edited the work and authored the introduction and annotations.  Michon Benson, PhD, professor of African American Literature, authored the foreword. As a winner, the authors will receive an invitation to attend the Gala awards reception, held at a world famous landmark location, earn recognition and receive other benefits from having an award-winning book. 
Angie Brown is a romance migration novel set in the Jim Crow era. Angie, the protagonist, determines to embrace all life has to offer despite the social restrictions facing young black southern women like her.
